The Agafay Desert from Marrakech

Forty minutes from Marrakech, the Agafay Desert offers sunset, dinner in a tent and a night at camp without spending a whole day on the road.

What the Agafay Desert is

Agafay is a stone desert: bare, rocky hills facing the Atlas. It is 30 to 40 km from Marrakech depending on the source, about 45 minutes by road.

There are no big sand dunes. The photos of waves of golden sand come from Merzouga, about nine hours away by road.

What to do in Agafay

The classic evening combines a camel ride at sunset, dinner in a tent and musicians. The quad, with mint tea, suits those who want to be active. To see the desert from above, a private balloon flight goes over Agafay.

You can pick one activity or combine them: the dinner show and the camel ride work well together in a single evening.
